Why is the delivery fee higher in some Samui areas?

Two different things can raise a Samui fee: how far the driver must go around the island, and whether the last stretch is a steep mountain road.

A drop in Chaweng is not the same as a run to Taling Ngam or Na Thon. The west and south coasts sit farther along the ring road, so those areas start higher than Chaweng or Bo Phut.

The second reason is access. Many view hotels, hillside villas, and sanctuaries sit high above the beach. The last stretch can be steep, narrow, or unpaved—and after rain it is worse. A standard car often cannot reach the gate. We then use a 4x4, the run takes longer, and the delivery costs more than a typical beach-road drop in the same named area.

Happy Tails Sanctuary in Thong Krut (Taling Ngam, south-west Samui) is a clear example: the village and pier sit on the coast, but the sanctuary is high on the mountain and needs a 4x4. Hill hotels in the Lamai and Chaweng hills can be the same story. Not every Taling Ngam or Thong Krut address needs a 4x4—only the pins that sit up those roads.
